George Esau passed away from heart failure peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Blenheim NJ, and moved to California. George attended Sweetwater High School and served in the Army and then the Navy Seabees Construction Battalion where he served a tour in the Korean War.
George was a devoted husband and father and the founder of the family business ESAU SUPPLY COMPANY. George was a part of the construction industry for over 50 years. He was an avid racing enthusiast and driver, and was a fan favorite at Cajon Speedway for many years. He was a member of both the East County Masonic Lodge and the El Cajon Elks Lodge #1812, Georgeâ€™s kindness and generosity to everyone he touched left a legacy that will be remembered by those who knew him.
He is survived by his caring wife of 63 years, Violet Esau, sons Larry and his wife Mary Esau, Ron and his wife Marsha Esau, Grandchildren, David Esau, Mandie Briney, and Mollie Esau and sister Dora Long.
A private Memorial Service for the family was planned with a Celebration of Life following at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, August 18, 2010. For further information, please call 619-442-0247. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation George and his sons, Larry and Ron, are known throughout East County of San Diego as a great racing family and an honorable business family. George founded Esau Supply Company in 1956. Back in the 60â€™s they built houses and employed over 100 workers. In 1960 he also got involved in auto racing. In â€˜63 & â€™64, he was the California State Champion in his age group! Larry Esau was also Champion in his age group! In 1965, George was named the â€œRookie of the yearâ€ at Cajon Speedway at the age of 37! Ron has now been racing stock car since 1973 and has established himself as one the best drivers on the West Coast. Larry and Ron run the business with help from all the great staff.
